Jingle Bells – Christmas Song for Kids (2025 Edition)
About the song
Celebrate the magic of the holidays with a brand new version of Jingle Bells. Join Santa and his reindeer on a sparkling journey through snowy villages, over icy mountains and across the starry sky. This high-energy animation is made to get kids dancing, singing and feeling the festive spirit. The new lyrics and animation are an original creation of Dečiji Ritam, set to the classic public-domain melody written by James Lord Pierpont in 1857.
Lyrics
Sweeping through the white,
in a sleigh of gold and red.
Guided by the light,
the world is tucked in bed.
Santa’s bells will ring,
waking spirits bright.
What a joy to drift and sing
a magic song tonight.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
echo through the sky.
Oh what fun to take a ride
where the winter eagles fly.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
let the music swell.
Oh what joy to drift and slide
beneath the magic spell.
Through the clouds so high,
with reindeer in a row.
Sailing through the sky
to sleepy towns below.
With a wink of Santa’s eye
and a bag of heavy toys.
He will hear the wishful cry
of lucky girls and boys.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
echo through the sky.
Oh what fun to take a ride
where the winter eagles fly.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
let the music swell.
Oh what joy to drift and slide
beneath the magic spell.
Fun facts about the song
Here is a surprise: Jingle Bells was not written as a Christmas song at all. James Lord Pierpont published it in 1857 under the title “The One Horse Open Sleigh”, and it is really about racing a sleigh through the snow and having fun in winter. Christmas is never even mentioned in the original lyrics.
Two American towns still argue about where it was born. Medford, in Massachusetts, says Pierpont wrote it there, while Savannah, in Georgia, says he wrote it while living in the South. Nobody has settled the debate yet, which makes it a very festive little mystery.
And here is the best fact of all: Jingle Bells was the first song ever played in space. On 16 December 1965, the astronauts of the Gemini 6 mission, Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford, told mission control they had spotted something strange flying overhead. Then they pulled out a tiny harmonica and some little bells they had secretly packed and played Jingle Bells. That harmonica is now kept in a museum in Washington.
Our version keeps the famous melody but tells a brand new story, with Santa flying over snowy villages and sleepy towns. The lyrics are original to Dečiji Ritam, so this is a Jingle Bells you will not hear anywhere else.
Fun idea: give everyone something that jingles, like keys, a spoon in a cup or a little bell, and ring along on every “Jingle Bells”. Instant family band.
